JORDANS SERIES DROGUE FOR SALE
Hello Peter, I hope this email finds you well. We have been in contact several times and met when you were in Den Oever looking at Naomi James’ boat that I restored to its old glory.

In the mean time several things have happened but long story short.

I have sold Express Crusader (Gallant 53 ) to a good friend of mine who will hopefully take good care of the old Lady.
I have restored BØR, the Bestevaer 53. And we have sailed to Portugal/ Portimao. Where I have secured a berth for the coming years as a “base”. We used the Windpilot all the from the Netherlands via south England because the Whitlock drive broke and Lewmar had a hard time to deliver the new one. The WP performed very well in the Biskay with considerable waves and winds up to 45 knots. I was really happy because steering a 53 ft 20tons yacht in that sea was exhausting but the WP didn’t complain.
I have sold the second hand WP that I installed back in 2018 on the Azores on Express Crusader to a really nice youngman wit a Breewijd 31. He may reach out to you for help. His name is Jeroen.

I have decided to quit my boat restoration and building projects. Now I am clearing out my container.

I am having a hard time to find someone who I can make happy with a Jordans Series Droque which is new and build for a Bestevaer 53. Given that you are in contact with many sailors with big dreams and plans… Maybe you know someone who could benefit from this device.

There is also a never used orange hanked on stormsail. Build by Hood Germany originally for my Swan 46.

The parts are located in Den Oever.
Hopefully, between us, we are able to make someone happy.

Im Mai haben wir mit Thomas hier bei uns in Hamburg noch Kaffee getrunken, derweil Frauke in den Kanaren sehnsüchtig auf ihren Kerl gewartet, weil sie wieder gemeinsam zu neuen Ufern aufbrechen wollten. Im Juni 2023 dann diese Mail von den Azoren:

ein paar Dutzend Teile im Himmelreich zusammengesetzt und verschraubt. Nun zum Leben erwacht! Wir haben die ersten 780 Seemeilen mit dem neuen Steuermann hinter uns. Ich glaube, dass die Anlage gesungen hat vor Freude als wir aus der Windabdeckung kamen. Oder war ich das ??
Mal ehrlich, nach den Kämpfen mit dem Aries Oldtimer….. Kette einrasten und läuft.
Eine Frage zum JSD. Ich bin so frei! Ich habe mir einen machen lassen, von einem pensionerten Segelmacher aus Österreich.
Ohne Bridle, den mache ich selbst. Die Empfehlung ist: zwei Schenkel a 15 m ( 18mm Nylon). Kleinerer Winkel- weniger Kräfte : die Erklärung dazu! Danach die Cones. Ich frage mich wirklich ob das tatsächlich besser ist als der Standartbridle?

Dear Peter, Hope you’re doing well. Two questions:
I need spare part 160 ( red cap), as it broke into two (25y old), see picture. Can I order this with you? 
Furthermore, the turning of the shaft is rather heavy, we’ve cleaned the inside of the orange knob (#270) and put it back, with little result. Could you advise please?

Dear Henrik, take off / out 270 and add some silicon spray to the inside casting 250 whilst turning 260 … it should just getting cleaned from salt etc. at the inside. Red cap will come via UPS

Bonjour Peter, Some news: I left France in July 2022 singlehanded, to Portugal where I stayed a few weeks to finish work on the boat, before heading to Lanzarote. I crossed the Atlantic from Lanzarote to Martinica in 21 days in December/January. Lots of winds, and a fast crossing. I would have appreciated to go a little slower, but it was still enjoyable;

The Pacific was really great. I used it during the 18 first days, but shifted to the electric pilot for the 3 last days, as there were so many sargassos weeds that the windvane rudder was lifting very often. One single issue, due to a lack of checks: I lost the bolt and nut of the transmission between the push rod and the bevel gear. Quickly fixed,and I am more careful now…
The boat is on the ground in Grenada now, and I shall go back there in November. I intend to sail to Panama and the Pacific, but the return of El Nino is bad news for spending the 2024/25 hurricane season in French Polynesia, and I shall decide later.

screw 438 is not meant as kind of shear / overload pin! Its meant just to focus / sharpen your eyes for the perfect positioning … while rudder is being fixed by tensioning of bolt 435 only. So I guess you will not need additional pins. About sargasson, sailors challange of todays days. I have designed the rudder angle at 10degree to the aft i.e. to easy cleaning from seawead and flotsam. Juts use boothook at front side of rudder … to push downstairs … that s simple procedure and effective:
