In summer 2015 I finally installed the windpilot! I ordered it new from Germany. It was indeed German quality! It does pay the price! I tested it first on my day trips to Bonaire and back to Curacao, another words, up the wind and down the wind. It worked like a charm in both directions! It is a magic! It steers the boat much better than Raymarine autopilot and uses no electrical power! Just wind and water. What else can I say: thank you, Peter Foerthmann for an excellent device that you invented! I should have invested in it from the beginning!

Installation was particularly easy for HR Monsun 31. All it takes is to drill four holes in the transom and bolt it through. I only had to move forward the solar panel and relocate the storage plate for my outboard from the stern railing to the side; another words, to free some space for the windvane. WEITERLESEN
Adriana and I are good. We live in the Italian country side and have relative freedom and safety as we have land around our house, hence quite some space. Our Dana is a little abandoned as we are unable to travel out of our ‚region‘, Umbria. Last winter we had put her on land in a yard with plans to work on her but we weren’t allowed to come to the yard in the end. We only had her cleaned, fresh antifouling, anodes and back in the water. The piece you had sent us to adjust the windpilot with a line was not installed to my regret but it did not stop us from a fabulous sail to Sardegnia again last summer… We sailed for 6 weeks with one day in a port, the rest at anchor and in perfect safety. It was wonderful and am just putting together another video.

In earlier time, she was not equipped with any kind of autopilot so, we sailed manually, at the helm for 3000 miles: North Sea, British Channel, Atlantic Ocean via Bay of Biscay, Gibraltar, Mediterranean Sea through Baleari and Sardinia Islands to get her home.
One year later, we yearned for a windpilot and after a some research, we targeted your Pacific. We flew up to Hamburg to met you, have been impressed by your production, and got that marvellous item!!!
After installation, we enjoyed the beauty and comfort of a self steering system, even more !!! We are still using it with pleasure and there are endless thanks to you for his fantastic creation!
Es ist erst wenige Tage her, dass ich den Besuch zweier Radfahrer bekam, die im Tiefschnee – ganz ohne Schneeketten! – den Weg nach Wandsbek genommen und gefunden hatten, um uns einen Besuch abzustatten. Die Zeit war knapp, jedenfalls bei mir, weil die Uhr tickte, ich ein System zum Airport zu bringen hatte …darum wurde der Besuch vergleichsweise recht kurz, eigentlich garnicht meine Art!
Es ging, wie sollte es wohl anders sein, um die Ausrüstung einer blaugestreiften Yacht mit einer Heckverzierung. Die Beratung ging schnell! Etwas länger wurde der Schnack, als ich erfuhr, dass die Tochter des einen Radfahrers sich derzeit im Pazifik „rückwärts“ quält. Die SY Thula hatte vor einigen Wochen die Entscheidung gefällt, sich gegen die häufigen Flauten im Stillen Ozean Richtung Panama zu kämpfen, eine Herausforderung der besonderen Art, insbesondere wenn Diesel knapp an Bord, man wirklich auf den Wind angewiesen … und der kaum vorhanden ist. Derzeit befindet sich die Thula nur noch wenige hundert SM entfernt von den Perleninseln.
Nachdem ich nun die Iridium Mobiltel. erfahren hatte, konnte ich tun, was mir schon lange am Herzen gelegen hat, denn ich war durch ein Foto auf der Website der Segler aufgeschreckt, welches die Ruder Position des Windpilot Systems abenteuerlich falsch montiert gezeigt ( Achterkante Ruders nach vorn montiert!). 
Jedenfalls konnte ich endlich meinen Hinweis an die Segler loslassen … zum Glück hatte man den Fehler bereits selbst gemerkt. Immerhin ist die Windpilot Anlage bereits ca 30 Jahre alt und mir in Erinnerung geblieben, weil von der Vindö 452 insgesamt nur wenige Schiffe gebaut worden sind.
