HONOLULU — Department of Land and Natural Resources officials said no oil has been released from a boat that sank overnight in Keehi Lagoon.
The boat went down about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday nearly 100 yards off Keehi Harbor. Apparently the pumps on the 49-foot boat stopped working, state officials said. The one woman and two men on board called 911 for help, DLNR officials said.
The Honolulu Fire Department rescued the people onboard the Sea Dragon and took them to shore.
A DLNR representative said the department is working with the boat’s owner on gathering the resources to pull the boat out of the water.
DLNR said the boat’s owner did not have a permit to moor the boat at the harbor. It is the boat owner’s responsibility to remove the sunken vessel, DLNR said.
