Matt Allen and the crew of Ichiban weren’t racing today – they had the IRC 1 division stitched up after the first three days.
But there was a little drama this afternoon when the boat dragged anchor at Kata Beach and ended up with her keel in the sand. Prompt action from crew members of Moonblue 2, Sidewinder, SEA Properties, the Thai Royal Navy, Sunsail and others (we’re working off the t-shirts here, apologies to anyone we have missed out) hauled her off again. The classic recipe of weight on the boom, roll the boat over to reduce the draft, keep the engine running, and some towing assistance from dinghies in the vicinity did the trick.
